Quick UPDATE

Apologies for my absence.

Unfortunately it will be a while longer till I can return.

You see, computers & I are not currently on speaking terms.

It is a long story, one I can't type to explain, but the short of it is that I cannot use the computer - bummer...

If you want to be warned when this blog is back just post a comment to this entry and give me your email and I'll e you back when I'm back.

You can always have a look at my online portfolio in the meantime.

Cheers

Gone, but not for long

It's been a while since my last posting. The week has been even busier than before. Between work, spanish classes, to do lists, an achy arm and my hubby away in Germany, I didn't get much blogging done this week! However, I did manage to finish some backend website stuff and a few Visual Diary pages, here they are:
The great pretender The wind was murder 24/7
The first one, The great pretender, is part of a Music series I want to make, using parts of music lyrics. Watch this space!

Two for the road

I managed to complete a drawing I started on Monday - still learning patience - and created a quick one yesterday. With the arm pain I am having to learn to concentrate on capturing the general idea, the emotion. Sort of like the impressionists captured light. Then if I can I bring more and more detail into it. I guess is all about the learning. :)

Sunny days always bring up smiles

We have had a good weather spell this week and the 'summer people' seem to be out. You know, the people that are less grey, not so grumpy but that have a somewhat doubtful taste when putting summer clothes on. They are far more interesting to watch, sort of like birds in paradise: look at those featers!

Art prodcution is going at a dreadfully slow pace - see previous posting - but I have started some sketches for a 'Zodiac signs' set I want to create. I figured every portfolio should have one of those.

Arm on hold

Hello, apologies for the silence. I am nursing a bad case of tennis elbow and all my elbow grease is going to my work. I can barely cope with the pain during working hours, and when I get home my right arm is useless...
So I am taking it easy, outline one day, paint the other, scan the other...learning patience.
Here is a new addition to my website that I finished mostly on Monday:

Weekend and artworks

Keeping up with this blog sometimes is a struggle. Specially when it's sunny and inviting outside and my to do list is the size of the Eiffell Tower. :¬s
But not to worry, here are the latest artworks added to my website:

London, Fridays, coffee and spanish

A quick catch up! Thursday I spent the day in London with my argentinian friend. The Spanish consulate visit went well; my old passport has been snipped and a new one is on the making. So for all intents and purposes I cannot leave the island! :s That always gives me a sense of clautrophobia!

We also ate at Yo sushi - sushi is definately my favourite food. For dessert we had Ben & Jerry's fish food under a very sunny sky. Then we ventured into Hamley's (the toy shop) where the girl's department is Pi-in-nk(iiirrrc!.) Then we had a stroll down Canarby Street - a visually fantastic place - and got some amazing deals at the CSS art shop. :) I'm all kitted out with more Derwent Inktense watersoluble ink pencils and some Letraset markers!

We then enjoyed strolling around the National Gallery, saw the 'Manet to Picasso' exhibit and the ongoing art performances in various rooms. It's quite bizarre to have an artist making a replica of an art work inside a gallery! :) All that fresh paint!

After all that walking we deserved a proper afternoon cream tea :) I'm getting quite fond of scones, cream and jam :) My husband joined us around six. Then the two of us visited the National Portrait Gallery and had dinner at Leicester Square before heading back home :)

Friday came not a moment too soon! To make it through last week I required serious amounts of coffee -no less than 4 cups on friday... My duracell batteries are not what they useed to be! To make the day even more challenging I had my first spanish class. It's mind boggling how portugues and spanish can be so similar and at the same time so different!!! Apellido is surname in spanish and nickname in portuguese. Sobrenome is nickname in spanish and surname in portuguese! I get a feeling my brain is going to cease to work! :)

Last train to London

My art muse seems to be on holiday or at least in a recycling mode - trawling through old drawings, cutting and pasting them into the visual diary and giving them a whole new context. The ‘Downtown girl’ - posted on the 5th – is a good example of that.

Today is a ‘go to London’ day: passport, Art shop, Candem Market and Tate Britain. I know London is a diverse and intriguing place, but I really can’t fall in love with it - give me Paris any day! At least I’ll be in good company :)

Write more later, probably over the weekend, if I have anything nice to show.

3 for the road

Here are 3 Visual Diary entries as promised. The 'Pressure' one was done a month ago, the 'Presies' a couple of weeks ago and the 'Downtown girl' yesterday using a drawing I made 6 months ago. :)
I still need to upload the 3 cards I made, but pizza has priority!Yum yum :9

Go with the flow

Sometimes life throws wild cards at you. These unexpected things throw you off balance and you have to struggle to stay calm. A friend of mine reminded me that no matter how much things scape my control I am still in control even if it does not feel like it. I managed to do some artsy stuff this last week. Mostly birthday cards to be honest, but I also finished a couple of drawings that were stuck in limbo as a result of a manic month. I will post these soon, hopefully tonight :) So watch this space.

Too much, too fast

This year is speeding past like lightening in a stormy night. I could swear it was new year's eve a couple of week ago...but alas, it can't be helped.
This week has been as busy as it gets and it's only half way through. It's hard to keep up with doing art so I'll settle for uploading 5 new ecards, here they are:

Blast from the past

Here is the ATC I made on Friday as promised. It is for a friend and it is her daughter who is quite adorable.
I also found some old creative stuff I had done and uploaded to the website. They may be worth a peek.

Lara
Tomorrow is back to work again. Hopefully I'll get some art done this week.

Heaven and Hell

Last week was busy so I didn't have the time - or the energy - to get much art done. On Thursday some bad news arrived, a very good friend passed away. It wasn't unexpexted but that didn't make it any less saddening...

After some thinking I concluded (read convinced my self) that good enlightened people may catch the ferry out of this plane sooner because they have learned all they needed to learn for now...

Gateway to Heaven and HellSo Friday I had the day off so I decided to use the time to create a presie for a friend whose birthday is in a week or so. I made a 'Gateway to Heaven and Hell' mirror.

It's painted in oils - messY - and is not finished yet, but it must dry before I do more to it. So here it is:

When it is all done and dusted I will post a better version of it to my website, but for now you can get the idea. I did an ATC and a birthday card too, but I'll upload that later. Now is capuccino time - God I love that little machine :)

Busy day

Phew... this was a busy and productive day. The e-cards section of my website is looking more together and is ready to be used !!! Isn't that something?!
I have also found time to add some of the Visual Diary drawings I did in Jan and Feb that were waiting to be added to the website and to the blog. Here they are:
A is for angel Trying hard Beauty Bamboo forestBlown offIs the end of the world All things being equal Free your mind Hush Ilumination London is Purple city

All together, a very productive day :)
